Introduction, Part 2

Once you have connected (see Lesson 1), and gone through the initial setup stages, you will be presented with a choice of which faction to join. If you are just starting out, there is no practical difference between the factions. You can also ask on the MUXRecruiting channel to see if there is anyone to help you (type: mr <message>). Pick a faction, and you should join immediately.

What do you do once you get into a faction? The first thing to do is ask for help. You will get a message explaining how to talk on your factional channel once you join. You should also read up on the factional bulletin boards. Next, find the SIMS. These simulators allow you to practice your BattleMech piloting, which you will need for working through the BattleMech Introduction Lessons (also known as BMI).

Each faction should have a training program set up. This is a player or several players who are experienced and there to help new people get the hang of things. They will help show you the ropes once you have worked through the BMI on your own. They should also help you with any other questions about the MUX or game that aren't covered in these help pages.

If you find yourself without help in your faction, you can also ask on the Help channel (type: h <message;>).

Good luck, and welcome to 3030MUX!
