Basic MUX, Part 3

Online mail, known as @mail or +mail is a way to send messages to other players on the game, especially if you want to tell them something and they aren't connected. To see the online help for @mail, type help @mail. Here are the basic commands:

@mail "<player name>"=<subject of message>

You type the message by typing a - and following it with the text. Then you type -- to send the message.

Say I want to have Tony help me with something tommorrow. I will send him a message by typing these commands:

@mail Tony=Hey, I need some help

-Hi Tony, I need you to help me learn how to make my commanding officer mad. Can you meet me at the spaceport tommorrow at 5? Thanks.

--

And the message is sent to Tony, who will (hopefully) reply.

To read his reply, I would first type: @mail. This will bring a list of messages in my mailbox up. It will look something like this:

---------------------------   MAIL: Folder 0   ----------------------------
[N------] 1 ( 6) From: Tony Sub: Re: Hey, I need some help
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here, the reply from Tony is message #1. To read it, all I have to do is type @mail 1.

Now that you know how to communicate with people, we should learn about how to enter and leave units. Go to the next section to see how.
